We last sold this stunning Austin Seven Tourer five years ago in 2015 to one of our long term customers based just half an hour away up on the lovely Wolds. Over the last five years, it has been superbly maintained and has featured at many events and shows. In 2017 VG 8148 was taken up to Scotland to participate in an event we hosted, and more locally it has won 1st prize at Acklam Sports and Gymkana village show, 2nd prize at Newby Hall and on a separate occasion picked up the highly commended prize at Newby Hall. The Seven has taken part in many club events and runs, and its lady of owner of five years has truly cherished the car spending several thousand pounds on maintenance and improvements to include a complete re-wire, re-furbished semaphore indicators and a brand new hood. Over the five years, the little Austin has covered in the region of 2500 miles and comes to us back in part exchange.
Back in 2015 the Austin Seven Tourer came to us from a small private museum collection in Derbyshire where it had been for three years. From the comprehensive history file with the car we know the Austin was sold in 1985 (advertised in The Automobile magazine) requiring full restoration. The car was sold from Bradford and the new owners in 1985 spent over ten years rebuilding the car to an exceptional standard and since then the Seven has covered in the region of 5500 miles.
VG 8148 has stunning bodywork and lovely gleaming paintwork and so many years on since its restoration it still presents incredibly well with a nicely aged feel and patina. The leather upholstery is in excellent order, the carpets, door cards and dashboard superb. The interior of the car was superbly trimmed and today many years on since refurbishment is of a very high standard. The hood and sidescreens are in excellent order and the engine bay is beautifully presented. Our Austin Seven is beautifully detailed and has a stunning finish and of course an incredibly rare more adding to its desirability. Mechanically the Austin is very strong and having been regularly used over the past five years will certainly give its next owners lots of confidence. In October 2014 it was treated to a new clutch and in June 2015 a new exhaust system, new points, plugs, leads, coil, engine mounts and a new Hardy Spicer propshaft. The Austin then came to us in late 2015 and we fully serviced and prepared and has since been superbly well maintained. The engine runs beautifully, the gearbox is a delight to use and the Austin drives very well. This is a real collector's piece, a very rare model and a delightful Seven Tourer that can really be used and enjoyed. Classic Cars For Sale
