SUMMARY
I actually removed my original advert for this car, as I felt it didn’t do it justice, and didn't really set it apart from the rest. I’ve now added many more photos and details to the info page on the car, which can be accessed via my website, which hopefully will convey just how good it is. My mechanic even thinks, given the condition of this car that I’m selling it too cheap; he says it’s in better condition than the majority of vehicles a fraction of its age, that he sees day in, day out.
This is truly exceptional example of the W202 C-Class. Bought new from Greenoaks Mercedes, Croydon, and still carrying the supplying dealer’s sticker in the rear window and dealer key rings on the keys. Owned for 13 years by the same elderly gentleman, the car was sold by his family in May 2011 (at 23, 635 miles) to a member of the Mercedes Owners Club, who after a few years sold it to another member of the club, after which it fortunately found it way to me. This is delightful example of the W202, and one that hasn't suffered with any of the corrosion issues sometimes associated with this model, in fact the underside is in impressive condition, and resembles that of a much, much newer vehicle (see the photos)
Interior is also very impressive and is almost as new, still retains that distinctive "new W202 smell" a smell that only W202's owners will recognise. All the trim is as new, and no holes have been drilled to fit phone kits etc. Everything, including the airconditioning works exactly as it should
In these days of almost “default” alloy wheels, it’s a refreshing change to have steel wheels and trims, both of which on this car are in immaculate condition, even the back of the wheels are still satin black and not caked in brake dust or rust. Tyres are all very recent, matching Goodyear Efficient Grip, all with at least 5-6mm tread remaining,
As you'd expect of such a fastidiously maintained vehicle, the drive is sublime, and I’d go as far as saying it’s probably one of the best driving W202's to pass through my hands, with a ride that would put many modern cars to shame. There's absolutely no creaks, sweaks or rattles; a tell tale sign that the car has never been messed with or abused. It’s also economical too, however equally can make swift, unfussed progress if required
As you can see from the pictures, the history and provenance supplied with the car is both impressive and very extensive, and documents just about every penny spent on it. I've also added to this, and just had a major service carried out, including ATF old and filter, diff oil, coolant and brake fluid changes. The waterpump, V-Belt and tensioner were also replaced too. This car now wants for absolutely nothing, and is ready for the new owner to enjoy without any further expenditure.
In summary, a beautiful, incredibly well maintained example of a W202 C-Class, that can be used as (very) reliable everyday transport, or kept for best. I've seen values of the W202 firm up in the past couple of years, and values of the model range looks to be following the same trend as the W201 did before it, so it's maybe a good time to look at a W202 C-Class.
MTSV CLASSIC MERCEDES
MTSV (an abbreviation for Mark Taylor Specialist Vehicles) was born out an incurable and lifelong obsession for anything with four wheels on it, especially those carrying the legendary Three Pointed Star. Established by me, Mark Taylor in November 2005 when the Classic Car market was in its infancy and long before “everyman and his dog” had jumped on the Classic Car bandwagon. Specialising in Classic Mercedes from the late 1970’s, through to the 2000’s, I also frequently have the odd foray into other quality classics and sometimes even modern cars, however the qualification is always that it has to be interesting, and/ or just a little different; my theory, which has served me well so far, is that if I like it, someone else probably will!
My main specialisation is the legendary Mercedes W201 190 and Mercedes W124; I firmly believe these models were about as good as cars got in terms of sheer, teutonic quality, and believe them to be the best cars Mercedes have ever made. I’ve built up a substantial knowledge of both the W201 190 & W124 over many years, which I’m always happy to share, and have recently contributed to a W201 buying guide written by Julian Parish. I also have extensive experience of the most of the Mercedes models within my “band of interest” namely the W116, W123, W202 & W203 C-Class, W208 & W209 CLK, W210 & W211 E-Class, W126 & W140 S-Class, R170 & R171 SLK and the R129 SL-Class. Obviously as time goes on later models are coming onto my radar too.
MTSV has always, and will always focus on quality rather than quantity, and in doing so has earned, and continues to maintain an enviable reputation among its many customers both in the UK and abroad, many who are now three, four and even five times repeat customers, some of which have become good friends too. I’m also listed in the Mercedes Club Directory as a recommended business and I’ve also had several of my rarer cars featured in the motoring press too.
THE MTSV DIFFERENCE
Unlike some, I don’t just simply go out, buy any old car, give it a good clean, then advertise it for more than the purchase price, disregarding any issues the car may have in the hope the new buyer won’t notice…I just couldn’t do that. The cars I source are carefully selected and I work very hard so that when my cars leave me, I have the satisfaction of knowing they are as good as they possibly can be within the constraints I have. As such I have many repeat customers and new customers that have been recommended via word of mouth…the ultimate accolade for anyone in business.
