Truly an iconic 80’s Ford. 13th August 1987 RS500, build number 489, finished in the very desirable Moonstone Blue, one of only 52 produced in this colour. Covering just 38800 miles from new, this RS500 is simply wonderful in every way.
E773 MMM has been subjected to a rebuild, lots of work done by RS500 specialist North Yorkshire RS Spares / Paul Linfoot. In 2012, after the car had been unused for a while it was stripped down and rebuilt to standard specification. Separately an interior restoration and body restoration were also completed including full paint. Please note that this RS500 retained its original panels throughout this. The engine, gearbox & axle were fully rebuilt at this time to. The car was back on the road in late 2014. Since then the car has covered a mere 2000 miles.
In 2018, when the vehicle was last sold Paul Linfoot carried out an underside refurbishment. All mechanical parts were removed, the floors & arches were prepared and coated, all the mechanical parts were powder coated/ painted, new fuel/ brakes lines, driveshafts, complete exhaust system, brake discs & pads, wheel bearings, suspension bushes etc.. The invoice for this alone was around £7500. The underside of this RS500 is as clean as the top side!!
The history file is wonderful, MOT’s dating back to 1991 when the car had covered 21k miles. Most previous MOT’s are present in the file. Invoices dating back to 1989 and there is a lot of invoices since!!
The original dealer brochure is present along with a ‘race parts’ catalogue. A letter from Ford discussing the success of the RS500 in competition is a lovely bit of history along with a ‘Collins performance engineering’ brochure.
A book pack is included with this car, it appears the original service book was lost in the change of ownership a few years ago. A service book is present and stamped 1st August 2014 by North Yorkshire RS Spares presumably when it had completed it’s resoration. The mileage on the stamp shows 36802 miles. The supplement ‘Cosworth’ booklet is present, the premium sound system booklet also in the book pack.

We could go on about this beautiful example of a cherished, low mileage RS500.
It’s a car that will be hard for us to let go of, if your after a RS500 that surely can only appreciate in value while you are enjoying the pleasure of driving it, this must be the one for you!
