Description

HERE is one of my favourite sports saloons from the 1960s. The Humber Sceptre Mark 1. With its super sleek styling, fantastic 6-dial sports dash and an aluminium head knocking out 80 bhp, this was a top of the tree Rootes Group model. Throw in the manual gearbox with overdrive on 3rd and 4th and what a car you had!

This old girl has panel work which is in excellent condition everywhere. Front wings, all four door bottoms, rear wings and sills are in fantastic order for a 55-year-old car. Everything is so straight and strong. She was originally a mid-tan colour although only the engine bay gives that away now as everywhere else is the same blue. To my surprise, even the panel behind the rear seat as I discovered when I pulled down the arm rest. The paint work is acceptable if not a little mottled in places. This is not a car with body rust. There are a few splits to the driver's seat.

She drives magnificently and has that sort of feel that gives a driver of a classic car plenty of confidence. Overdrive on 3rd and 4th is instant and she fair flies along!

These twin headlight Mark 1 models tend to be offered for prices in excess of 7k these days. Those examples will doubtless have a better paint finish but I doubt whether the metal beneath that paint work is any better, straighter or stronger than the body on this one.

She is being offered at the kind of money which would probably not buy most Morris Minors these days. But please bear in mind that I do not sell 7k cars for less than 4k. I may be a trifle odd when it comes to my love of classic cars, but that does not make me a raving lunatic! This is the sort of honest classic you could have as a daily user. Priced accordingly. Not 7k, not a show queen. But it's a hell of a lot of fun driving it for half the price!!!!!!!

Should you opt to purchase a classic car from me - classic meaning that it will be the equivalent of a motoring antique - then you are accepting that the vehicle will have had faults in the past and that, inevitably, there will be more to deal with in the future. Almost certainly and unless stated otherwise, the vehicle will have undergone some degree of restoration work and, again, it is more than likely it will need more at some stage during its life. I am a one-man enthusiast who enjoys unearthing these old girls and finding new homes for them. Viewing is highly recommended and then you can form your opinion of an aged vehicle just as I will have already formed mine. Modern-day life practically dictates that the majority of classic vehicles - and it is certainly the case with mine - are sold via internet advertising and with the added bonus of digital photographs. Extra and specific photographs will also be available on request. Should you choose to buy without viewing in person then please don't tell me a month later that the horn doesn't work, the full beam is faulty or that you have found some ancient repair of which I knew nothing. My terms therefore are that by buying from me you are accepting that, almost inevitably, classic vehicles will require further remedial work at some stage.

I accept all major debit cards and can also assist with delivery if required. Thanks for reading if you have managed to make it this far! Martin the details below)
