Description
This Gilera is an very authentic factory bike. It was very advanced for its time. In the fifties Gilera was dominant in motorsport, with six worldchampionships titles. Racing generated publicity, but it was sales of road bikes that paid the bills. Most of the machines sold were lightweights based on the overhead-valve 125 single (first appeared in prototype form in 1948). Gilera developed and enlarged the engine, at first to 150 and later to 175cc. These bikes were top sellers in the fifties and sixties.
