1966 Jaguar 3. 8 S type Automatic With Power Steering , Finished in correct Jaguar Indigo blue with contrasting grey hide interior . The odometer reads nr 68, 000 miles and is supported by an extensive history and expired MOT certificates . JYL 972D was first registered on 25th February 1966 and the V5C records 7 former keepers . Subject of a major restoration from 2003-2005 the history of which accompanies the S Type along with restoration photographs. We note the current engine block is stamped as a 3. 4 although this S Type was supplied as a 3. 8 from new . I can only presume when the engine was rebuilt they had to use an available 3. 4 block . Paperwork supplied detail the majority of work that included removing the engine, Stripping it down and rebuilding. The crankshaft was re-ground, bearings replaced, a 420 oil pump fitted and the cylinder head rebuilt and converted to unleaded. The water pump was replaced, drive belts replaced, carburettors rebuilt, XJ6 rack and pinion power assisted steering fitted and an uprated alternator fitted. Electronic ignition was fitted, two solid state fuel pumps fitted, the fuel tanks replaced, the wiring loom replaced and the prop shaft was treated to new universal joints and sliding joints and then balanced, the gearbox was fully re-conditioned and a new torque converter fitted . Circa 14, 000 miles have been completed without issue . Purchased by its last owner in May 2018 and subject to a full service by the "Heritage Car Company" , Classic Jaguar Specialists in Malton in September 2018 , New timing cover gaskets , Oil Filters , Hoses all replaced , New steering rack gaiters , New Federal 185/ 15 radial tyres fitted , Optical upgrade to time clock , Brake service etc (Supporting invoice supplied) , There after in February 19 it returned to "Heritage Car Company" for the interior wood work to be refurbished , Dash light converted to LED , Anti freeze change , New hose clips and a battery isolator switch fitted . Heater controls un seized and doors adjusted etc . Latterly again returning to "Heritage Car Company" in May 2019 for a full service and minor repairs , (Supporting invoice supplied) . Currently MOT tested which expires May 2020 , Although not currently required to have an MOT test . Beautifully presented S Type which has been exceptionally well maintained . Having covered 60 miles in the S Type Jaguar I can say it maintains excellent oil pressure and shows no signs of overheating .
