The reopening of the Daimler-Benz Factory Museum in February 1961 was the perfect moment to present the new coupés and convertibles in the W 111 series. The media was impressed and applauded the high quality and manufacturing detail of the new series. To this day, the W 111 series coupés and convertibles are considered to be very successful.
Our Mercedes-Benz 220 SE b Convertible was delivered in December 1964 by the dealership in Duisburg/ Germany. Since 1981 the classic has been owned by the current owner who at one point had the car licensed in Switzerland. Before 1981 the car had suffered engine failure on a trip to Italy. At the time it received a replaced engine from the MB 230 S with 2 carburetors and 120 PS, so almost a perfect fit. This aggregate has been delivering great service to this day! In 1982 the car received a complete overhaul by Zeilinger Karroseriebau in Munich/ Germany. Since 2004 the classi car has been registered in Germany again and is enjoying best care and the occasional outing. Its design combines a moss green metallic exterior with a cognac colored leather interior – perfection!
