Description
1998 Mercedes-Benz C250TD Esprit Estate
Very rare specification of the OM605 2. 5-litre turbo diesel with the five-speed manual gearbox and air conditioning, and in Esprit trim level with factory lowered suspension.
You will see from the photographs that this car has a slightly unusual paint scheme. The body is silver with a black lower half and an air brushed stripe on the roof. This is because it was first registered to Tag Electronics, which is part of McLaren Racing. The car was painted when new by McLaren to match the colour scheme of the McLaren/ West F1 cars of the late 90s.
The car was originally registered S3 TAG
Last owner since 2004. Three owners in total.
190k Miles, which is nothing for these OM605 engines, with full service history. All original books/ manuals. HPI Clear.
Runs and drives beautifully. The engine and gearbox are really sweet. Everything works, apart from the radio, even the air conditioning blows ice cold!
Recent work includes a completely rebuilt differential and refurbished alloy wheels.
It has no MoT because it needs welding. It needs work to the sills, jacking points, boot floor and inner wings.
The body is fairly tidy with a few usual W202 rust scabs. The interior is really superb with no wear.
We were going to do this as a run around and because I really think it needs to be saved as it's such an unusual spec and has an interesting history. However, while we have and welder and all the skills we are really struggling for the time. So if it can go to someone with the welding skills and time who will restore the body, that will be better than it sitting here doing nothing.
Viewings welcome (HP18, near Thame, Oxfordshire), please call the details below.
Please note that this car is not road legal as the MoT has expired so must be trailered away. Runs and drives fine for loading purposes.
