This Mercedes SL320 was last registered in 2008. The previous owner parked it with a mechanical issue, which we found out to be a faulty engine bay wiring loom. These were made from bio-degradable plastic and were later recalled by Mercedes. Once in our shop in the Netherlands, we replaced the wiring loom, drained the fuel tank and changed filter and pumps. The car started on the first attempt.
Having been parked in the Texas sun, the factory original paint is weathered. The body is solid and well-preserved and apart from a few small dents has no signs of damage.
The interior will also be needing some renovation work. The leather seats have started to dry out, but still feel firm. The convertible top needs to be replaced. Also, the electro-hydraulic mechanism does not work, requiring replacement of all of the seals (DIY kits are available on Ebay). The SL320 does not have a hardtop.
Mechanically, the car will need at least a thorough service check-up. The engine runs well and the automatic transmission shifts fine. All of the fluids are old and should be replaced, as should the tyres. Current mileage is 57. 542, supported by a clean VIN report. No registered accidents.
