HERE is a 1966 Vanden Plas Princess 1100, which is now a rarer model than its successor the 1300.
Finished in that classy grey colour which VP specialised in, she has covered 33, 000 miles and from what I have been able to gather, that is very probably correct. She had done just a handful of miles less than that 12 years ago. Her last MoT expired in 2014 with no advisories.
Incredibly original and strong underneath and also in the interior floor pans, she has been stored and now needs carpets (they would have been 54-years-old and still exist in the rear) and a headlining. Otherwise, you can have a smashing little luxury classic on your hands here for the sake of some gentle tlc. She sounds mega-fit with great oil pressure and performs well through the gears. The fact that she has no front carpets enables us to see just how good her floors are.
I also have a complete set of VP Princess leather seats in cream which I would say are better than the grey ones in the car.
These early twin-carb 1100s are highly sought after - just take a look at their prices. I consider mine to be something of a bargain and that allows for some tinkering by the next owner. Body panels and paintwork are certainly acceptable with some imperfections here and there. A great opportunity.
