THIS is a beautiful and now rarely seen 1984 Suzuki Alto FX SS80 and must be one of the earliest Second Generation Altos to be produced! This delightful little gem was registered in August 1984 and remained with the same family until a few months ago. It was husband and then wife-owned and always garaged. It has covered a mere 28, 000 miles and its original Suzuki Service Plan book shows it stamped up until 1994 when it had covered 17, 600. So that was its mileage after the first ten years of its life and there is only a further 10k on the clock today!
It's a real beauty. The two speed auto box, so typically Japanese, is a delight and switches from its lower gear into top at around 30 mph. Its kick-down operates as it should and there is also a low gear (L). In superb order both outside and in, she comes with a book explaining the 6-year warranty on its Suzuki based rustproofing product of Tuff-Kote Dinol. Strangely enough, this has expired now after nearly 37 years but it has certainly done its job in preserving the body. I see no signs of welding anywhere. Apart from the occasional imperfection here and there, she could pass for a three-year-old car. She is probably as good an example as you could possibly find out there. There is some slight surface rust on the front spoiler and a poorly coloured touch up between the nearside wiper and the air vent. These are minimal and also paint has only recently been matched and mixed and so you could sort this yourself so easily. They do not detract from the amazing original condition of this rare gem.
This little pocket rocket is a 3-cylinder 796cc car and goodness knows how many miles to the gallon it returns! A total joy to drive, she comes with a current MoT until October this year. You have to love that 80s interior too. All undamaged and the original radio still works!
