Finished in striking Bornite metallic with anthracite leather and highly specified with electric/ memory/ heated seats, automatic climate control, electrically adjustable steering column and a Becker Mexico stereo.
Supplied new to Japan and remained in the hands of its first owner 24 years until 2016 when we imported the car and supplied it to its second owner.
All original books and manuals, spare keys and a full service history, comprising of the service sheets from Japan, plus all records from the UK where it has been looked after predominantly by Mercedes-Benz of Bath. Any work required has been carried out without hesitation. The car has just had a service and health check by MB Bath (February ’21).
What remains so attractive about this particular 500E is how original it is. Thanks to careful long-term ownership, it is entirely as it left the factory and has not been restored or modified in any way, which is something of a rarity these days, particularly with the pre-facelift cars.
The last owner has enjoyed several trips across Europe with the car, which is exactly what it was designed for – a discrete, high speed, luxurious machine to cover many miles. Yet this 500E has covered relatively few miles, just 104k (167K km) over its 29 years.
Having lived most of its life, evidently garaged, in a salt-free climate and spared the rigours of winter in this country, this Mercedes remains in beautiful condition throughout – outside, inside and underneath. Thanks to the correct maintenance it drives exactly as it should too, with performance, deftness and a sophistication that makes these cars so special.
The 500E/ E500 has quickly become one of the important Mercedes to own. Built by Porsche, the 500E continued MB’s tradition, starting with the 6. 3, of building discrete, high performance saloon cars for the discerning.
