Borg Warner three-speed automatic; power steering and brakes are standard features on this car.
The car's rich leather interior and genuine walnut trim have gained a patina of use and enjoyment over the years, no longer exactly pristine, but close enough.
Driving this car can best be described as Comfortable, like your favorite well-worn pair of jeans. You sink into the massive front seat, a thumb starter button rousts the 190-horse, 3. 4-liter, XK twin-cam straight six to life, and once warm, it settles into a deep chested, gurgle at idle. Click the shifter into drive and she's away.
This car is easy, soothing really, to drive, because it rides and handles nicely, with no drama, with plenty of torque from its sports car-based engine to move its 3800 pounds with relative ease. The steering feels a bit wooden at idle, but when the revs come up a bit, some assistance checks in and you can drive it with your fingertips. Bend the car through a corner, and there's plenty of body roll, but its well matched by confident grip -- no wonder they raced these things!
The look and color are wonderful, the car is most graceful to drive, and has plenty of pace; leg this thing, and it really goes, with a real world top speed of well over 100 mph. We estimate 0-60 takes about 12 seconds, which doesn't sound fast, but was pretty good hustle for a large, heavy sedan in the mid-1950s. But it's the punchy mid-range that really accelerates the car nicely once it's underway.
Mechanical's are relatively straightforward, and parts aren't difficult to locate.
 Various maintenance records available.

Invest the time and spend the money to get a good one, as because of all their leather, wood, and chrome, they're expensive to restore. Buy a sorry, rusty example, and you might as well paint "Money Pit" along its graceful flanks. You'll just be dollars ahead, and get to enjoy the car more often, and sooner, if you buck up for a clean one, like this one, that's been well restored or preserved by someone else.

Rare nowadays - not many of these left in circulation - certainly not in New Zealand. A most beautiful classic Jaguar that will only appreciate in value.

Car will be sold WOF’d and Registered IF sold in new Zealand
