This 1995 Audi S2 Coupe is a rare sports car presented in a rare striking factory colour of Amethyst Pearl and in absolutely outstanding condition. It is powered by the iconic 2. 2-litre turbocharged 20v five-cylinder engine, and is driven through a six-speed manual transmission with Quattro all-wheel drive. This particular car has covered just 79, 900 miles from new.
The S2 represents the genesis of Audi’s ‘S’ series of performance models, and was manufactured by quattro GmbH in Neckarsulm, Germany. Being one of the later models in the production run, this ABY car features the more powerful engine, the six-speed gearbox, updated style Leather seats, Airbag steering wheel, clear indicator lenses in the bumper and ellipsoid headlamps.
An original right-hand drive UK-delivery example, this S2 Coupe was inspected and registered in May 1995. It was sold to its first private keeper Kenneth Scott and he kept the car until 2020 which is when the most recent private keeper acquired it. It has evidently been beautifully cared-for and stored.
Its vibrant Amethyst Pearl paintwork is in magnificent condition. The paint has a smooth and glossy finish all around the car. It changes from a Pearl grey to purple depending on the light. The light lenses and reflectors are in perfect order, with no cracks or clouding. All of the exterior plastics are also in remarkable condition.
The car sits on a set of Audi 18-inch, six-spoke ‘Avus’ alloy wheels, manufactured by Speedline, which have just had a professional refurb, stripping to the aluminium and refinishing in the Audi centre cap grey, giving the car a more dynamic stance.
In the cabin, the period-perfect leather seats are all original and have aged very well indeed, with no damage or wear.
The full electric pack is present, along with the factory-fitted electric sunroof, this currently gets stuck partway due to lack of use, a common issue and would benefit from a strip and regrease. All of the interior plastics are in remarkable condition, and every switch and knob is in perfect working order. Lifting the boot lid reveals a very clean carpet that still fits snugly and shows no signs of wear. The spare wheel is an original alloy that has never been fitted.
A thorough inspection of the bodywork and frame of this car confirms that it is in sublime condition. The door jambs, bonnet and boot shuts are all pristine and free of corrosion, which is a testament to how well it has been cared for by its previous owner.
Under the bonnet, the engine bay is in superb order and completely unmodified. With a recent service done by an Audi main dealer with complimentary health check revealed the car to be in fantastic order. The only mention was the rear brake hoses (being original) were getting ready for changing. So they were immediately replaced and updated to braided lines with stainless steel fittings (front and rear). A newly build set of Porsche S calipers were also fitted upfront with grooved S8 discs and Pagid sport pads to update the braking performance. The original calipers are included in the sale should the new owner ever wish to return to the stock set-up.
The car still has its original Audi exhaust and factory mats, all adding to its factory originality.
Accompanying this Audi is the original and complete owner’s pack, with all of the handbooks in the black pouch, as well as the stamped service book and old mot’s.
