1979 MERCEDES-BENZ W116 350SE - LOW MILEAGE
We are absolutely delighted to be offering for sale this amazing w116 finished in a superb period correct colour combination of Deep green metallic with a contrasting green MB Tex and check interior trim (very 70’s and looks amazing).
We searched for a long time to find an example in largely excellent condition in this particular colour as green is a favourite of mine (I’d have every car in green if I had my way!) The desired car was for sale in Ireland but was originally a UK registered 3 owner car from Kent. It came with all its original documentation including a full bookpack, original service book and service history and also had a wonderfully low mileage of only 88000 . The car was excellently described by the vendor and had been regularly used and had had lots of recent mechanical expenditure but was needing the rear wheel arches replaced soon and the current owner had neither the expertise or the funds to do so currently .
We ordered new replacement rear arches from Europe and waited for the vehicle to arrive from over the water.
Upon close inspection we realised that there were a few more repairs required to the body and some of the paint wasn’t a perfect match so we took the decision to strip the body completely which involved removing all the chrome trim, bumpers, grilles, lights, rubbers etc. The chrome and the interior trim was all in amazing condition so we knew a good paint job was what this car really needed to finish it off.
When we cut out the rear arches we discovered that the inner arches had all but disintegrated so these had all of the bad metal cut out and replaced, the 2 nearside doors had blisters on the bottom , again these were cut out and replaced with new metal as was a small patch (half an inch) on the top of the drivers side front wing. Both sill ends had also corroded quite badly and these required replacement also. All repairs were treated with a preservative to stop them from rusting though in the future also.
The body was sent to our paint shop and all repairs completed to our usual high standard before being primed, blocked down and primed again before painting. The paint was then left to settle for a week to check for any sinkage before having a thorough polish before all the trim was refitted .
The result as I’m sure you will agree is absolutely stunning! It drives absolutely beautifully and is ready to enjoy .

We have also treated to car to a full Waxoyl treatment to ensure longevity .
It is of course tax and mot exempt due to its age .
