THIS is my 1963 Vauxhall VX 4/ 90 and, being a December 1963 model, it comes with the larger 1600cc twin-carb engine as opposed to the earlier 1500.
These 1960s sports saloons are highly sought after. They knock out 71 bhp from that twin carb, alloy head engine and feature many upgrades compared to the basic Victor FB. Different rear light clusters, side stripe, different chrome work to the front, a sports style six-gauge dash housed in wood, wooden door cappings, improved seats and more. Rarely offered these days, probably because most owners would not dream of parting with them!
She is in delightful order having been re-commissioned by a classic Vauxhall enthusiast last year. At that point, she had been stored for many a year maybe even 30. It has covered just 1, 000 miles in the past 40 years.
Starting in November of last year, he fitted new thermostat, oil and filter, plugs, gearbox tailshaft and selector shaft seals, rocker cover gasket, flasher unit, nsf wheel bearings, ll brakes flixibles, anti roll bushes, both front calipers re-sealed, rear hardy-spicer joint replaced, exhaust mountings, all new door drop glass seals.
Current MoT runs until November of this year and even a couple of minor advisories were seen to. Sound underneath and extremely pretty on the two-tone paintwork, she is one eyeful of 1963 sports saloon. Quite clearly this is one Vauxhall from the sixties which survived the ravages or rust!
She has a beautiful interior too with spearmint green upholstery offering a delightful contrast to the dark green bodywork.
All in all, a smashing opportunity to acquire an exceptionally rare model.
