Description
The Wolseley and Riley versions of the “1100” were produced for just two years from 1965 until 1967. These early models are something of a sweet spot in ADO16 production with better build quality, leather trim and various attractive early features – they are also perhaps the rarest of all the 1100 models with just a handful of MK1 Wolseley cars left on UK roads.
Here we have a very special car indeed – a very late MK1 Wolseley 1100 in its original colour scheme of Farina Grey and Trafalgar Blue with blue leather interior. In 2017, it won its class at the 1100 Nationals and as you can see from the photos, it’s in A1 condition, certainly the best of the 20 or so ADO16’s that we have owned and, as you would expect, drives beautifully.
The total mileage is less than 63, 000 from new – the original speedometer failed at 60k in 2017 and the replacement shows just 2, 800 miles. The first owners, husband and wife, bought the car new in 1967 and owned it until 2008. Since then, it has been treated to a very substantial round of spending including a bare metal re-paint, re-chrome, gearbox re-build with new clutch, new exhaust, re-trimmed leather front and rear seats and a long list of additional replacement parts.
It comes with a comprehensive history from new including a huge file of bills, original service books, original bill of sale, heritage certificate, “BMC” drivers handbook and workshop manual, original sales brochures, various related publications and a substantial quantity of spare parts.
We sold this car last year and had huge interest – unfortunately the new owner barely used it before being diagnosed with a serious illness so it’s back with us and ready for sale....
Ready to use, in close to perfect condition and more or less unique!
