Wolseley 1300(Mk 2) Rare Automatic/ Utterly Original
The ADO16 (Amalgamated Drawing Office project number 16) was designed by Alec Issigonis and launched in 1962. Issigonis set out to design a larger and more sophisticated car than the Mini incorporating more advanced features and innovations - the result of his work won acclaim from all quarters and sold strongly both at home & overseas.
The Mk II launched 1967 (Wolseley - October 1968) was equally popular boasting the larger 1275cc ‘A’ Series engine, high levels of comfort and, of course, the Wolseley grill with illuminated badge.
Milestones are always searching for outstanding cars for classic car enthusiasts to use and enjoy. Finished in Blaze - a rare factory option at the time - stunning original blue interior, lovely wooden dashboard with strip-speedo and an indicated mileage of just 45, 000 miles from new.
This Wolseley 1300 is in utterly original condition. The car has never been welded (still has spot welds in the rear arches and seams in sills), under the carpets is original factory paint and the engine bay present extremely well.
On the road the car drives superbly – whisper quiet with lovely light steering and the four speed automatic gearbox operating smoothly. The history file indicates just six owners from new and contains Drivers Handbook, Original Sales Brochure, MOT’s back to 1998.
The Wolseley would make an ideal starter classic or possibly a light car for someone looking to downsize to a classic with automatic transmission.
