Kawasaki KZ1300 A3 US model with german title and low original mileage
These Calafia/ Vetter versions were regular standard A3 bikes outfitted with these Touring items at USA Kawasaki in Lincoln, Nebraska specifically to get interest from touring riders since the in Europe well selling standard Z1300 did not do so well in sales in the US. It is fairly easy to turn this Semi-Touring bike back into a standard naked Z1300 motorcycle. Just unbolt all the bags and fairing and redo the seat to flat, mount the original headlight that sits in the fairing back on the foris and ditto for the turnsignals and its done.
The odometer shows only 17. 282 miles (27. 800km ) run from new and this mileage is very believable when one looks at the wear and tear components on this bike, such as rubber of footpegs, general cosmetic engine condition, absence of stone chips and pitting in the paint on the lower fork legs and the absence of fading of dials and indicator needles in the gauge cluster.
The bike has been parked for a long time before and since it was imported from the US to Germany, however it does come with complete and correct german title documents, which makes registering it easy in most of Europe.
The cosmetic condition of the bike needs some attention, some surfaces and fasteners are oxydized and the overall condition would warrant at the very least a partial disassembly, replating of the hardware, rechroming of some components and a good polish and buff job.
It would also be the ideal candidate for a custom build in Z1300 basis since everything is there, though in need of some attention. The engine turns but it does not start due to it not having any spark, i have not investigated the reasons any further, suffice to say the bike is expressively sold as a parts bike or complete restoration object, non running and without any warranty whatsoever.
At the price it is advertised at i wager to guess this is not going to be a problem for anyone seriously interested and knowlegable in where values for a restored and/ or impeccable Z1300 have gone up to, especially these past couple of years. The bike has new tires mounted and a new windshield as well and the carburetors have received a new rebuild kit and some cleaning but i would guess still need some attention to detail.
The bike is located near Lisbon in Portugal and can be transported pretty much to anywhere in the EU for a very reasonable price by Chas Mortimer out of the UK. He can also help with tax and duty issues and with MOT and registering this bike in the UK if need be.
