Mercedes W123 230E – Concours Quality/ Nice Spec
The W123 is a range of executive cars produced by Mercedes Benz between 1975 and 1986. The car has been cited as the Best Car in the history of ‘What Car’ and many purists believe it to be the best model ever produced by the company.
Most examples have led hard lives but in recent years values have risen significantly for the right car although finding a good, unmolested, low mileage & low ownership example takes time and patience.
At Milestone Classics we have been looking for an excellent/ original W123 for five years but have been unable to find a car to match our exacting standards until now.
Our 230E was registered on 14th August 1985 to Majestic Garage, Bournemouth, a Mercedes main dealership, and used as a demonstrator until purchased in August 1986 by Mr Douglas Hughes who would cherish the car for the next 30 years. The car passed to his friend, a retired aircraft engineer, and then to the last owner earlier this year.
Finished in my favourite colour, Thistle Green (Code 881), our 230E is one of the nicest examples that you could wish to find. The paint finish is outstanding with absolutely no corrosion and the high specification interior is excellent – it is like stepping into 1987 when the car was two years old,
On the road the W123 does not disappoint – she drives as good as she looks. The super smooth engine and gearbox work perfectly and there are absolutely no untoward noises or vibrations as you serenely proceed down the road. The mileage is 86023 miles.
The large history folder contains service book, factory sheet/ invoices from new, the spare factory key in a lather fob and the scorecard from the Mercedes Benz Club Concours d'elegance competition that the W123 competed in earlier this year.
The W123 range is rightly acknowledged as the high point of Mercedes production when well designed cars were built to a high standard and the management accounts were locked outside the room.
Ready for the show field or simply to be used and enjoyed by the lucky new custodian we recommend early viewing to fully appreciate this remarkable Mercedes.
