Imp works rally car
it is the one which rosemary smith and val domleo competed
the infamous 1966 monte carlo rally which they won the coupe des dames before having the victory snatched back after falling foul of the same lighting irregularity that saw the works minis lose their 1st. 2nd and 3rd places.
it was then upgraded by the competition dept from group 1 875cc monte spec to 998cc in preparation for the scottish rally where it was retired due to mechanical failure
the engine is a full spec 998cc built by andy chessman as commissioned by vw derrington and is complete with original typed up paperwork in period
the engine is as new as was never ran. T has been fully stripped for inspection and rebuilt with new wills rings and checked for all tolerances. T has a r21 camshaft. Lock strengthened. As a special alloy cover and sump etc.
fueling is by twin weber 40dcoe carburetors
the engine has covered less than a genuine 400 miles and this is inclusive of a 220 mile round trip to the remaining building at linwood for the imp 50th celebrations on the 2nd of may where it performed faultless if you view youtube ( linwood 50th) you will be able to see and hear frw306c
gearbox is a correct works rr helical cut unit with lifted 1st gear (a necessity for twisty mountain hairpins) this again has been fully stripped and inspected and rebuilt and is perfect in operation (ratios available upon request)
wheels are all genuine minilite alloys (5) and fitted with new tyres
interior has original works seats. Alda speedpilot. Lopress tyre inflator. Radex fire extinguisher etc
fuel tank is alloy works spec tank
brakes are uprated to front discs and pads and goodridge lines
