An invoice from Armstrong and Fleming Ltd of King Street, Penrith shows that this delightful Minx Estate was sold to the local Chemist, a Mr. Dixon, on 13th March 1968 for £842 and 10 shillings. MOT certificates in the file suggest that the car stayed in Penrith until 2009.
There is a good history file with MOTs back to 1991 and lots of bills from 1997 onwards. New carpets were fitted in 2016 and the rest of the interior is in superb, original condition, showing no wear which, and along with the excellent underside, suggest that the mileage of 52, 000 is correct. The bodywork has been refurbished and has very good paintwork with a smooth, even finish. The engine bay is nicely detailed.
The Minx has been lightly updated for modern use with an electric fuel pump, a brake servo, and electric engine fan and modern fuses. Seat belts are fitted all round.
We have driven the Hillman over fifty miles and it really goes well, sitting happily at 50-60mph and with decent steering and brakes. The vision is superb and the car is straightforward to pilot.
It attracts much enthusiasm from other drivers!
