SUMMARY
I’ve been in the Classic Car business, specialising in Mercedes for almost 17 years now, and the term “Rust Free” is too liberally banded around by some sellers, when what it really means of is there’s no visible rust; it still surprises me than not many people actually look underneath a car, which at this age is an absolute must. In my experience genuinely rust free cars over a certain age are very few and far between. This however is one of those cars, it’s just simply incredible.
This W202 C240, with the glorious super smooth M112 V6 coupled to a 5-Speed automatic gearbox, is a joy to drive, and feels so much more special than the 4 cylinder cars. It was bought by a gentleman from Grays, Essex on his retirement back in 1998, and only used “for best” and in good weather wherever possible. He owned the car right up to his death in 2017, when his son subsequently inherited it. He continued to hold it in the same high esteem as his father, and kept it in the same super dry, heated integral garage it had resided in from new. I have to say this is the one of the warmest garages I’ve ever been in and its no wonder the car is in such exceptional condition .
Basically, this is an almost new W202 C240, for a small fraction of the cost of a new one. The car still feels, smells and looks like new. I could prattle on all day about this car, but I’ll just let the pictures do the talking. The only downside is the service book was misplaced by the first owner, and although his son is still trying to locate it, it may never be found, but not withstanding that, no one can be in any doubt whatsoever that this car has been looked after way beyond what is required. Att the end of the day, you can have all the service history in the world, but if the car isn’t right, then it’s no use as you can’t drive around in the service history alone. I’ve give the car a full inspection and comprehensive service so the new owner can start with a clean sheet.
So , in summary probably one of the best W202 C-Class out there in the simply beautiful colour of 341 Aquamarine. This car could equally be used daily as an everyday day or just kept for high days and holidays and shows, where I’m sure it would win a few prizes.
THE MTSV DIFFERENCE
Unlike some, I don’t just simply go out, buy any old car, give it a good clean, then advertise it for more than the purchase price, disregarding any issues the car may have in the hope the new buyer won’t notice…I just couldn’t do that. The cars I source are carefully selected and I work very hard so that when my cars leave me, I have the satisfaction of knowing they are as good as they possibly can be within the constraints I have.
