A 1982 Mercedes W123 200 restoration project.
Finished in Light Ivory with tan cloth interior and an automatic gearbox. Sold new by Cloverleaf Cars of Hampshire.
126k miles, full service history, all original books/ manuals/ datacard and a folder of bills.
The car has been off the road for 10 years following the death of its last owner.
Runs and drives – The engine runs sweetly with good oil pressure. Looking through the service history, there is a bill at 108k miles for a new camshaft, followers, valve stem seals and a new timing chain. This probably explains why it runs so nicely.
The interior is all complete and most electrical items we tried – blower, horn, instrument cluster, lights etc. all seem to work.
As the pictures show the body needs restoration, there is plenty of rust – please see the photos. That being said, much of the underbody and rear arches are solid and original – better than many we have seen. The doors are solid too, however the bonnet, boot lid and scuttle panel will certainly need replacing.
Obviously will need collecting with a transporter, but runs and drives for loading.
All in all, if you’re looking for a classic W123 to restore this is a great candidate or alternatively a fantastic source of spares.
