EQUIPMENT
Pussta Green (194) paintwork, Anthracite cloth upholstery, 4-speed manual transmission, 14-inch deep dish Mahle alloy wheels, Rear spoiler, Gold pinstripes, Electric door mirrors, Sunroof, Digital clock, Philips radio, Electric aerial, Heated rear window, Supplying dealer rear window sticker, Supplying dealer number plates.
EXTERIOR
This early non-fuel injection E28 presents really nicely in rare Pussta Green, a fantastic period colour that looks great alongside the gold pinstripes and deep dish Mahle alloy wheels. The paintwork is in good order with no signs of corrosion in any of the common E28 weak spots but, as to be expected with such an original car, there are a few minor defects to note on closer inspection. There is no damage to any of the lights or trims but again, some age-related wear is present. The bumpers are also free from damage and rust although the chrome has discoloured with age and would benefit from re-finishing to make perfect. The car retains all its original BMW-etched glass and even the supplying dealer rear window sticker and number plates are still fitted. The underside is also notably fresh. All in all, a very sound and highly usable example in a superb colour, ready to be driven and enjoyed.
INTERIOR
The anthracite upholstery looks great throughout, the only negative to report here being a small amount of wear on the base of the driver’s seat. Elsewhere the interior remains in excellent shape; there are no cracks on the dash (a common E28 weak spot), the steering wheel appears almost entirely unworn, and the centre console is also undamaged with no loose trims. In the footwells the original carpets are protected by a set of grey overmats, the only other item to note being some marks and stains in the boot area.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
With a little choke the 1. 8-litre engine fires into life and idles effortlessly up to temperature. On the open road the car is a real joy to drive, the engine pulls well and the 4-speed manual box operates with precision. Most recently the car has benefited from a full service and tune-up, a new radiator, water pump, and thermostat, with only genuine BMW parts used. A fresh MOT has just been carried out (expires February 2023) with no advisories.
WHEELS, TYRES AND BRAKES
This handsome example sits on desirable BBS Mahle deep-dish alloys, all in great condition and finished in gold they really set the car of beautifully. They are shod in matching tyres all round with only minimal wear to speak of, with all four having been replaced very recently. The brakes have also been checked and boast new pads at the front.
HISTORY FILE
This charming E28 was first registered in August 1983. It was originally supplied by Red Rose Motors (BMW) and has now driven 112k miles in the hands of only 3 owners from new. Within the History File you’ll find the original BMW document wallet with the supplying dealer-stamped owner’s manual/ service booklet still inside. A limited amount of other paperwork is present with the car but the condition speaks for itself. The current V5C shows only 2 former keepers and the advisory-free MOT is valid until February 2023.
