Description
A chance to own BMWs first 5 Series Touring.
This is your opportunity to own a late production, highly original, unmodified E34 generation 520i Touring. It’s been sparingly used throughout its 30-year life with the odometer having just clicked over 100, 000 miles.
First registered on the 28th February 1996 by Wood of Bournemouth LTD, up to 2012, it covered much of its mileage with its first few owners in the Bournemouth and Dorset area.
It was spec’d with the M50 2. 0 24v Straight 6 mated to ZF’s 5HP18 5-speed automatic gearbox, which is very responsive, changes through all the gears nicely and smoothly as it should, it’s switchable too, with 3 settings, economy, sport and snow, one of the more rare options is the twin sliding/ tilting electric sunroof which of course is fully operational as 90s BMW’s were built to last. Originally it sported the metric alloys which most of the later E34 generation 5 series around this spec had, due to the price and low availability of the tyres, it's been changed to 15” BBS type with nearly new Uniroyal Rainsports.
The rest of the spec includes a fully working LPG conversion, the tank mounted in the spare wheel well, rear parking sensors, electric windows, electric mirrors, central locking.
The interior is in excellent condition for its age, with only a minor bit of wear to the driver's seat bolster, the headlining is generally very good, the material has lifted a bit in the corners, but most of the headlining is the sunroof panel, which is in great condition. The wood trim has shine and depth with only a few minor lacquer cracks on the door trim sections. The split folding rear seats are all working as they should. The door cards and dashboard are unmarked with no damage.
The paint is in great original condition, the metallic Oxford Green looking sublime in the sun, with only a few very light scratches here and there, particularly straight down both sides, it would appear the car’s not done much time parked in tight supermarket car parks.
In the last year, recent history shows a full visual health check by Snows BMW Portsmouth in April 2025 and four wheel alignment by Havant KwikFit in October 2025. Also in the last 12 months mechanical work on the car includes, new rear brake discs and brake pads, new front and rear shocks, rear suspension links, new BMW exhaust system, engine recently fully serviced with new spark plugs.
All original handbooks and manuals present, V5C, MOT’s, registration documentation included for the LPG conversion carried out by Autogas Developments LTD in 201, service book stamped up consistently to 2015, then used sparingly up to 2025, whilst off the road for a few years prior to 2020. It drives as a big BMW estate car should, great handling and performance, whilst being comfortable for short or long distance, quiet at low or cruising speeds. The current MOT expires in May, we’re offering the car with a new MOT after a sale has been agreed.
