general:
for sale is my 1999 3rd generation mazda rx7 fd type rs, in stunning innocent blue mica metallic. It has undergone extensive preparation by renowned rx7 specialists in japan, hks kyushu & feed (fujita engineering).
having covered only 70, 250km (approx. 43, 650 miles) from new, the vehicle remains in an overall very good to excellent condition for its age. Such age related marks to the exterior (body / wheels) and interior that exist do remain minimal. The paint retains its deep glossy shine and as per photos remains exceptionally reflective. It has been detailed using swissvax products, the results of which are fantastic.
overall the vehicle alongside its performance and styling upgrades presents extremely well.
exterior:
the rx7 features the feed type ii-r kit, comprising of an aggressive front bumper, wider front and rear fenders and carbon fibre side steps. Additional carbon fibre additions are from re-amemiya, which include the gtiii rear wing, pro rear diffuser and exhaust guard.
further exterior additions to note are the mazdaspeed double vent carbon fibre style bonnet and the ultra-rare electric ganador mirrors.
the work-meister s2r in polished / painted silver compliment the look of the car extremely well. The combining result is truly attractive rx7 with phenomenal road presence. The car receives great admiration wherever it goes.
mechanical:
with reference to the specification list below, hopefully it is clear just how many high quality performance upgrades have been fitted to this rx7. given the car was prepared by hks kyushu and feed, naturally the vehicle is dominated by each of the respective tuners top spec upgrades. Furthermore, any additional upgrades fitted have also come from other leading rotary / motorsport specialists. To name but a few stand out components, the single turbo conversion utilizes a hks branded t04z turbo, hks super power air filter, hks external wastegate, hks v-mount, hks v-con pro ecu and stunning hks lightweight titanium exhaust.
upon purchase the engine was correctly compression tested using an official mazda rotary tester, the results of which indicated a very healthy engine. The car starts effortlessly first time on the key, under both hot and cold startup procedure. The vehicle’s idling oil pressure is excellent, holding approximately 6+ bar cold / 3+ bar when warm. When taken on an outing the vehicle is always warmed up / cooled down carefully. The vehicle has an advanced hks boost controller fitted, which has never been turned on during my ownership within the uk, as such remains at the lowest boost setting.
the hks lightweight twin-plate clutch remains in good order and the gearbox similarly good, with shifts being very smooth, fluent and lacking any signs of wear. The feed suspension components are similarly great, feeling tight with no untoward noises. These are complimented by various rare / discontinued re-amemiya and other performance enhancing chassis bracing around the car. All of which truly enhance the already phenomenal handling characteristics of the car.
the brake components of the vehicle have also been upgraded. The fronts feature a complete endless performance brake package (endless 2 piece grooved rotors, endless calipers and endless pads). these are paired in unison with the factory upgraded rs rear brakes / endless pads. The vehicle retains its abs unit and subsequently the setup provides exceptionally balanced stopping power.
interior:
naturally given the low mileage, there is a distinct lack of ageing to the interior cabin. The carpets (including rare original factory upgraded cherry blossom mats) and trims are in a fantastic clean condition.
the original 2+2 configuration has been retained, with a pair of reclining recaro sr seats fitted to the front and original rs leather seats to the rear. All seat fabrics, cushions and bolsters remain in fantastic shape.
a momo commando steering wheel has been matched and paired with a re-amemiya weighted gearknob. These alongside the shift and handbrake boots remain in very good condition. Similarly of note are the general switchgear, dash and door cards also remaining exceptionally presentable.
also of great benefit are a complete set of defi advance gauges (oil temp, water temp, oil pressure, boost) along with a main controller unit, all neatly housed within a discontinued border racing carbon fibre gauge pod.
the boot space is also in a very tidy condition, it features a feed battery re-location kit which is neatly housed within a aluminium protective box.
evidently this rx7 has been taken care of by its custodians, this alongside the various upgrades have made the interior cabin a tremendously pleasant place to be in.
maintenance:
the rx7 comes complete with original jack / tool kit and the original (unused) spare space saver wheel. Also included are the original japanese book packs with accompanying historic paperwork, maintenance pack and upgrade invoices. In particular of note, the original invoice from hks kyushu outlining the array of hks components fitted.
the car underwent an oil and filter change approximately 1250km (775 miles) ago using a high quality motul mineral oil and naturally remains in very clean condition.
a complete set of brand new yokohama ad08 rs tyres were fitted last year and remain in as new condition.
the car was imported to the uk during the summer of 2019 and has been retained in both dry / heated storage since. The majority of my (very limited) usage has been carried out during the summer months and only driven on dry days. As a result of this, the chassis, body and strut towers are in a fantastic original rust free condition.
a truly wonderful final generation rx7 that is ready to be taken to the next level. Whether this be as an all-round track inspired performance car or a refined show car. Regardless, high specification rx7’s with genuine high quality parts are becoming increasingly difficult to find.
