This imposing S500 Coupé, finished in Brilliant Silver with complementing grey leather, has covered just 46, 143 miles from new supported by a full service history.
In our view, the W140 S-Class that was introduced in 1991 was the last traditional Mercedes to come from Sindelfingen. Built seemingly without regard for cost it aimed only to be the best.
The coupé was launched in 1992, bringing pillar-less style to the new S-Class body and initially only available in 500 or 600 forms.
All were highly specified and this example is no exception. It has climate control, heated/ memory seats, electric rear window blind, wood/ leather gear knob and a glass sunroof amongst the full specification listed below. Parking sensors front and rear have been subsequently added and prove most useful.
This 500 was supplied new by Majestic Garage of Bournemouth to its first owner, then by Jacksons of Poole in 1995 to husband and wife who kept the car until 2006.
The car comes with all original books and manuals. The service book contains 12 stamps and there is a substantial folder of paperwork and supporting bills going back to 1995.
Just serviced and all important wiring harnesses replaced.
Comes with two remote keys and all additional keys.
With such low miles it is no surprise that this 500 is in beautiful condition throughout. The interior is very fresh and free from fading. The body gleams and has no corrosion, the underside is in excellent condition and the original 8-hole alloy wheels wear Continental tyres all round.
What’s more, it drives superbly with a cosseting ride and more than ample performance from its 5-litre V8, it’s one of the nicest we’ve driven. All functions such as soft-close, remote locking and window-drop are working correctly.
It’s rare to find these large coupés with such low miles and in such excellent original condition with continuous history. They are truly wonderful cars to drive, particularly long distance.
