A superb opportunity to be transported back to the late 1940’s and those endless long summer days, driving down to Devon or Cornwall for the weekend, or going out to enjoy a picnic in the Cotswolds or on the South Downs – in this superbly restored mid 1940’s Morgan 4/ 4 Series 1. This car offers superb value for a model that is extremely desirable and is a fast-appreciating classic.
Looking through the vast folder of paperwork that came with the car from the owner, a replacement chassis record card was issued by the Morgan motor company in the year 2000 and there is also an entry in the MSCC Morgan Historic Register that details that this car was originally dispatched from the Morgan factory in October 1947 and was dispatched to Charles Sidney Ltd, a dealer in Bradford. It also appears that the car was originally painted black according to a letter written from Morgan to a previous owner which is included in the history of the car in its accompanying extensive 3-inch-thick file, which details the extensive works done with many receipts present.
The car came 2nd in the M. S. C. C / Northern Star Concours in the late 1980’s.
This car finally ended up in the Netherlands in the late 1990’s, where it was allocated a Dutch registration number. Restoration of the car was commenced in the 2000’s by the then owner in the Netherlands, with a new chassis being ordered and fitted in 2002. The car has been restored to an exceptionally high standard, with parts being supplied from numerous Morgan car restoration specialists such as T. G Proudfoot. The car returned to the UK in 2016 with further work being done to the car including the gearbox being overhauled by the leading and renowned Morgan / Moss gearbox specialist Billy Bellinger.
The car is a credit to all those that have worked on it during it restoration, the quality of the restoration is superb. The car is fitted with a solid wooden dash, with the correct old English white instruments, and has the correct Bluemells sprung 4 spoke steering wheel fitted.
The car glistens in our showroom in its stunning Deep Navy Blue paintwork.
