Description
THIS is my 1957 Ford Prefect deluxe in outstanding condition all round. A 1950s show car if ever I saw one. These once utilitarian Fords were built at Dagenham at the rate of around 100, 000 per year. The remaining numbers must be tragically low as the bulk of them were driven into the ground. In a manner of speaking.
This old girl is in the sort of condition that could make it pass for being two-years-old. Bodywork, structure, paintwork, superb interior (re-trimmed and better than it would have been at new). Lovely sweet engine and a lovely driver. Rarely seen like this. Look at all that chrome on the re-vamped 1957 deluxe model. Chrome side strips, over riders, chrome sides to windows etc. She even comes with the original optional Ford heater!
Original colour and even the engine bay - which is in great order - displays the original green beneath the protective underseal. This 1957 model has the best dashboard of all 100E Prefects. See how it runs horizontally beneath the screen and has a much better look than the original lay out which just had two binacles behind the steering wheel.
This is a total gem. Make no mistake. Even the exterior sun visor is an original steel example, made to measure for the Ford 100E.
I would imagine that reading of 47, 000 miles is probably correct. Old MoTs show that in 1987 (when she was 30-years-old), she had covered just 37, 000 miles. The increase between then and now can be traced via the car's paperwork!
My classic cars are motoring antiques. Please do not confuse them with your one-year-old Range Rover. This car, for example, is 65-years-old and so will have quirks and faults in there somewhere. These are not always apparent when buying and selling classics which is what I do. I do not restore them, nor do I pretend that they are concours cars. The majority of them go out as they came in, and I continue to enjoy finding more - a skill which is becoming increasingly difficult as many of you will be aware. They deserve to be taken on as "family pets" and cared for through thick and then. They don't make them any more and demand now out-strips supply. Please bear all this in mind, and enjoy your classic car. I can also assist with delivery and so please ask for a quote. Thanks, Martin. the details below.
