Description
This is a 1959 Ford Prefect 4-door with just 28, 000 miles on the clock. The previous owner of 21 years told me that had always believed the reading to be correct. The oldest MoT in the history file goes back to when the car was just 16-years-old and it had covered less than 7, 000 then. Maybe it was just a local runabout; maybe it was a second car. Anyway, with just four owners from new prior to myself, it has always been in the Northumberland area and still bears its original Newcastle registration! She is in good nick all things considered and looks to be sound underneath too. The bulk of her is acceptable, with the nearside front wing showing some peeling of paint. Not a hint of rot here. It's just the paint peeling. It is so straight on the metal that has been exposed that I would not be surprised if this was not a recently fitted new wing. Tidy interior-wise and is on the button. Bargain 50s classic motoring.
My classic cars are motoring antiques. Please do not confuse them with your one-year-old Range Rover. This car, for example, is 63-years-old and so will have quirks and faults in there somewhere. These are not always apparent when buying and selling classics which is what I do. I do not restore them, nor do I pretend that they are concours cars. The majority of them go out as they came in, and I continue to enjoy finding more - a skill which is becoming increasingly difficult as many of you will be aware. They deserve to be taken on as "family pets" and cared for through thick and then. They don't make them any more and demand now out-strips supply.
