If you’re looking for a W460 G-Wagen restoration project, this 300GD is a great basis.
UK supplied and first registered in March 1987, this W460 is finished in black (040) with grey/ black chequered cloth. It has the optional five-speed manual gearbox instead of the standard 4-speed, plus alloy wheels, headlamp guards and factory tow bar.
The last owner, a London restaurateur, reckoned to have owned the G over 20 years. It is running and driving although the MoT has just elapsed. HPI Clear.
The OM617 diesel engine runs well, the gearbox and the running gear all appear to work correctly. The odometer shows 70k miles but as the speedo does not operate this must be assumed inaccurate.
The chassis appears to be in excellent condition. The body will need restoration work. The interior is complete but will also need restoration, as shown in the pictures.
You could get this G back on the road quite easily, but we feel it would make sense to carry out a full restoration given the soaring interest in these W460s. All panels and interior trim pieces for these are easily available off the shelf.
As a factory black, right-hand drive short wheel-base with the OM617 and five-speed, it is the perfect starting point.
