Description
This is a car we are absolutely delighted to have, and without doubt is the best travelled Mercedes Benz Pagoda we have ever had the pleasure of selling. This is the ultimate long distance touring Mercedes Benz SL, a RHD UK supplied 280SL that has covered 30, 000 miles since 2008 travelling the World. This amazing car successfully completed the Picos to Pyrennees rally (Spain and France), a tour in Patagonia travelling through Chile and Argentina, ‘The Great Arc’ rally across India, a tour of Spain and Portugal, the Isle of White and tour of Switzerland. The Pagoda also completed the Baltic States tour, travelling from Kiev to Curonian Split in Russia and through Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and over to Germany then home to the UK. In 2017 the car also completed the Venice-Monaco, going through Italy, Croatia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Albania, Sicily, Sardinia, Corsica, France and Monaco. With an unbelievable track record of long-distance touring, the level of confidence in this car is high, and we hope its next owner can share the same level of enjoyment out of this truly special motor car. It has already provided so many special memories and has been a huge part of its recent owner’s life over the past fourteen years.
LGM 777G presents well as a useable, older restoration that has been kept in strong mechanical condition. The Light Metallic Blue paintwork retains a good shine, panels are generally excellent, and the only criticism would be light marks and blemishes commensurate with a car that has been used for long distance touring. The vehicles' structure is excellent and has required no work over the 14 years of ownership, clearly having been restored to a very high standard many years ago. The interior has a nicely aged look and feel to it, its clean, well presented and the soft top and hard top are both in very good order. Whilst not a Pagoda presented in a condition to compete in shows, it is a lovely older restoration with a true patina, and requires no cosmetic attention to be enjoyed, and taken to shows, events and rallies but we know from its history, this car will be most enjoyed out on the open road and has the overseas touring background to show any potential next owner what the car is capable of.
Over the past couple of years LGM 777G has not had any use, and on arrival has been fully checked over in our workshops. We can confirm the engine is excellent with impressive oil pressure and very good, consistent compression ratios. As part of the sales preparation, we will be carrying out a light re-commissioning program of the braking system including front brake discs and pads, brake calipers, flexible hoses, rear brake discs, pads and handbrake shoes. The engine and gearbox will be fully serviced, and some detailing work carried out, so the Pagoda is ready for its next adventure. Over the last fourteen years the car has been superbly well maintained and prepared ahead of its many global events, it has been serviced by some of top Pagoda names in the UK, and had upgrades to include air suspension for those more difficult roads in places such as India and Patagonia. We are happy to discuss the program of work with interested parties, and discuss pricing based on what level of preparation we carry out, and whether we carry out any cosmetic improvements to meet the requirements of its next owner.
