But as a collector and serious buyer, I know this model has become rare on the market, and it's exceptional to find a six-cylinder W123 estate today without any corrosion, with pristine original underside condition. And that's essential. I didn't buy just any estate—I bought this specific one that I chose. Its fabric interior is in near-mint condition. Not a single tear, not a scratch on the headlining or the boot plastics, which is common wear on these estates that often served for furniture transport. Moreover, this example has spent its life in a warm, sheltered environment. It's been preserved and you can feel it. Its mechanical condition is impeccable. Behind the wheel, you're transported back 45 years, with a delightful hint of nostalgia, a feeling heightened by its distinctive ''magnetic blue'' colour typical of the seventies. I steer clear of poorly restored cars with hidden corrosion, high mileage, and the promise of disappointment and exorbitant repair bills. Their restoration strips away their soul and makes them more expensive than a sound, authentic example. Truth be told, I bought this estate on impulse. The price was secondary, and ultimately, that seems far more sensible than a purchase driven by price obsession. Today, I'd like to pass it on to a collector with a similar mindset to mine.
