A fine example of the most sought after of the W113 Pagoda model variants. Launched in 1968, this is one of the first 280 SLs to be produced in right-hand drive form for European markets. This 280 SL is equipped with the capable 2. 8 litre straight-six power plant with fuel injection, delivering over 150 bhp to the wheels for spirited cruising on motorways and country roads.
This 280 SL has been subject to a full restoration, making it essentially a new 280 SL Pagoda. Detailed below are the stages of the restoration, including the costs covered by the current owner between 2015 and 2020 to bring it to its current level of perfection. As restoration experts, SLSHOP’s craftsmen can confirm the high-quality of this restoration, which has restored this vehicle to original condition and factory specification. Enthusiasts will notice that this Pagoda possesses matching numbers – something that isn’t always achievable when restoring a car.
Combining Silver Grey and Black MB Tex, this is a stunning Pagoda to both observe and command on the road. The paint glistens in the sun and brings a contemporary vibe to the classic Bracq styling. Inside, the seats and carpets are like new, having been subject to retrimming as part of the restoration work. All the components and interior chrome have been replaced, ensuring the sun bounces around the cabin. The Pagoda also features a wind deflector in situ, making top-down driving more pleasurable. This car has been restored to original data card specification, making it an as-new W113 Pagoda.
Mechanically, this Pagoda drives perfectly having benefitted from a complete engine rebuild. SLSHOP’s lead Heritage craftsmen in charge of Pagoda setup, have confirmed this is an excellent 280 SL that will offer a new owner, hours of uninterrupted cruising.
Over the 54 years since this vehicle left the factory, it has had only six long-term owners – this is unusual for a classic car of this age.
Interested parties are invited to view this Pagoda in their own time or request a video consultation. This is a chance to acquire a Pagoda that has already had the spiritual and financial investment required to make it a perfect Pagoda. All the new owner will need to do is enjoy it.
