Descrição
This 1965 Innocenti 1100 S Spider is a Ghia-designed roadster based on the MK2 Austin-Healey Sprite with a modified chassis, 1, 098cc Austin A-series engine, and 4-speed manual gearbox. Purchased new at the Palo Alto dealership of import car distributor Kjell Qvale, the car reportedly spent the next 29 years with its original owner. It remained in California for 17 additional years with its second owner, who showed it at events including the 2008 Palo Alto Concours d’Elegance, 2009 Carmel-by-the-Sea Concours on the Avenue, and 2009 Concorso Italiano at Monterey. The Spider was the first Tom Tjaarda design for Ghia and was assembled by OSI in Milan. Fewer than 7, 000 cars were produced over five years, approximately 2, 100 of which were 1100 S models such as this one.
