Descrição

In the second to last year the iconic W113 Pagoda was produced, a Mr R. G Logan of La Jolla, California ordered this 280 SL roadster in stunning Horizon Blue (304) with a Dark Blue (135) interior trim. The perfect configuration for the golden state where to this day, some of the roads remain perfect for Pagoda cruising.

The folder accompanying this vehicle is packed full of invoices and historical notes, allowing you to piece together the history of the car, paper by paper. Within this folder, is the original metal plaque stamped with Mr Logan’s name, as well as a parts bill for a new fuel pump ordered by Mr Jimmy Logan – what we can only assume is a relative of the original owner. It appears that this Pagoda was owned by the same family for almost forty years.

At some point the W113 was sold to the current owner – a gentleman called Mr Smith – who paid for extensive works totalling £10, 000 to be carried out with Roger Edwards Motors in Buckinghamshire. This included a gearbox refurbishment, replacement fuel hoses and axle top mounts, amongst other things. In 2013 the vehicle was moved to Prague in the Czech Republic, where further works were carried out by a Mercedes-Benz specialist including a carefully orchestrated re-paint in Silver and a change in the interior trim to red. Mr Smith advised that this was due to the poor condition of the Horizon Blue paintwork, and the incorrect trim used by an American at some point before it was shipped to the UK.

Mr Smith reports just how reliable his 280 SL has been. A statement corroborated by the five Geneva-Cannes Classic Rally the vehicle has competed in; with the highest recorded position being fifth. In addition, the vehicle came first in a Czech Mercedes-Benz Owners Club concours competition.

With only 41, 000 miles showing from factory, this 280 SL Pagoda benefits from having had most of the refinement work carried out by the current owner, offering the new custodian a classic roadster with absolutely nothing to be concerned about. As the market moves forward and the desire for these cars further increases, a low-mileage and well cared for Pagoda will become even harder to acquire.

Due to the sheer size of the documentation accompanying this vehicle, we advise interested parties to join us for a coffee to wade through the paperwork and see for themselves, just how special this 280SL Pagoda is.
