Description
My 1967 Kawasaki A7 Avenger is up for sale to free up funds and space for a rather special machine that I hope to acquire soon.
I have the V5C in my name, registered by me as an historic vehicle, so it is exempt from tax & MOT.
Imported from the USA in 2016 it sat languishing in a dry garage until I bought it last year and got it roadworthy. It had clearly been off the road for many years before it was imported too. There are just over 7500 miles on the clock and though I have no proof, there is no reason to believe it’s not genuine looking at the condition of the bike.
The engine doesn’t look like it has ever been apart and the crank seals have survived the passing of time well, it starts easily and it runs very well with no excess smoke. I have changed the oils, balanced the carbs and set the ignition timing with a dial gauge.
Everything is present and correct for the year, even the high US handlebars seem to be an original option as the wires are fed through them giving a nice, neat appearance. I have left the original paintwork alone, it’s faded in places and worn through in others but I think it would be a shame to lose that history so I leave the decision to repaint to the new custodian. The frame paint is in great condition. The exhausts are solid, but the silencers are geazed.
During the recommission, I was careful not to lose any of its originality and patina where possible. I had to have the seat reupholstered and recovered because the original was past saving, but the base is totally solid and the inside was treated with Hammerite before the new foam was fitted. The tyres were well beyond saving and the new ones are Dunlop K82 in the correct imperial sizes. With TT100 type tread pattern they suit the age of the bike perfectly. There is a new battery, and all of the electrics work as they should. I replaced all of the footrest, kickstart and gear lever rubbers because they were missing.
The rims are in incredible condition with no rust pits anywhere, I missed the opportunity to photograph them while the tyres were off, but believe me they are like new. The spokes, brake plates, shoes etc. are also in remarkable condition with virtually no wear and the brakes work very well indeed.
I can provide more photos on request and have replaced the chain since those in the advert were taken.
I highly recommend a viewing so you can fully appreciate the bike and check it over for yourself. I live in Merstham, near Reigate, Surrey close to the J8 of the M25, Postcode RH1. Text or call me on the details below for more information or to arrange a viewing.
Payment by bank transfer or cash on collection please. I know of a couple of very reputable couriers should the need arise for one too.
Finally, it is advertised elsewhere.
Cheers
Glen
