Made in limited numbers (approx. 2200) and designed/ hand built by the italian Yamaha importer Belgarda, first registered 1998 in uk as indicated on v5. Bit of a marmite bike - you either love them or hate them and they do have their good and bad points!
Recorded mileage 16, 000 miles on speedo but looks to have had a speedo change around 2014 from km to miles hence mileage is nearer 18, 500 or 29, 500 km. ground up rebuild by retired engineer, engine in standard excellent condition and are normally good for 60-80k miles if maintained . Rebuilt to a high standard. Condition actually much better than when new as the original build quality of these hand/ built machines was very variable!
Full rebuild file from purchase to completion along with costs, full uk workshop manual on file. original parts and some spares included. Presently sorned as I am riding other bikes.
Super handling bike, only 48 hp, but on the road seems much more as it handles so well. This bike is based on the short stroke yamaha xt 5 valve 660 engine which over 3000 rpm has lots of torque the valve clearance is adjusted by scxrew and locknut so easy to maintain ( no complex shimming). The engine is not a long stroke slogger, it likes to be revved. This bike is great fun….. with a low seat height of just 29" so suits the vertically challenged rider........ Tyres good for another 1500 miles.
originally blue but now ruby red with custom transfers complete with correct black stainless exhaust for the red bike. Engine standard spec and in excellent condition . Sigma jet kit purchased but not fitted and comes with the bike (should the new owner want to install an aftermarket exhaust and alter the fuelling to suit). existing engine paint renewed in 2k enamel black with etch primer and suits the bike better than the original weird grey. Frame powder coated silver, wheels powder coated black and all other paint to plastics/ tank completed with etch primer base and 2k enamel paint and lacquered over transfers. Renthal bar conversion fitted to give relaxed day long riding position, braided hoses to front and rear brakes with new pads. Some technical improvements made to cooling system and fuel pump operation – two weak points on this bike (when new the SZR bikes cooling system did not have a warm up circuit so the bikes ran very cool, even in uk summer), fuel pump repositioned (original location gave rise to issues as it was a long way from the carb) more details of mods on request. New voltage regulator fitted (another weak point on 90’s bikes) with led driving lights and power socket for charging or accessories. New motobatt battery fitted 2k mls ago and connected to optimiser when bike not ridden, charge indicator (ammeter) new indicators, new fuel pump plus spare and original. Carbs overhauled with new float needle and carb fuel air cut off valve (1st carb) , and new carb diaphragm/ slide (2nd carb). stainless fasteners and special one - off stainless parts, along with new wheel bearings/ seals etc. Everything works better than originally designed. Spares/ original parts included in sale.
