Description
It is with a heavy heart that I write this ad.
For sale my 1992 BMW M5 E34 3. 8 5 Speed Dogled Resto-mod.
I purchased the car in 2018 and in 2019 i started the process of doing a full restoration on it and modifying it at the same time.
The car has been stripped down to the bare shell, every single point of rust has been addressed, the arches have been widened to fit the new wider and bigger wheels (whilst still trying to keep the original lines of the car). A 5 speed close ratio dogleg gearbox has been fitted ( Getrag 265/ 5) along with a lighter flywheel and a Kevlar clutch. Diff has been changed to a 3, 45 LSD to keep the proper ratio, resulting in a fantastic responsive S38 from any rev range.
I have documented every step of the process, and have thousands of pictures of everything. Car has quite a lot of history with it from previous owners, plus tonnes of invoices from me during the restoration process. I am happy to do in depth about every single aspect of the car. I finished the car in March this year, and have been enjoying it ever since.
Why sell it? I really don't want to, but halfway through the restoration process i have purchased a 1973 BMW E9, which i have started restoring/ modifying as well. Seriously miscalculated the costs involved in doing it, so unfortunately the only way to speed up the process of finishing it, is to sell my beloved M5 E34.
The actual modifications different from stock cars are:
- All 4 arches widen in metal by 3” to fit bigger wheels
- Custom built Hamann PG1 18” wheels 9, 25”x18 225/ 40 and 11. 25”x18 275/ 35
- BC coilover suspension with custom spring rates 10kg/ 8kg
- E31 front 850i brake upgrades
- Bmw E31 850csi front axle X-brace
- Getrag 265/ 5 Dogleg gearbox (replacing the original Getrag 280)
- 3. 45 LSD 210mm diff to match the dogleg gearbox
- Hella smoked headlights with bi-xenon projectors
- Original Hella smoked tail lights
- Full interior has been refurbished (door panels, lower leather dash and consoles) and everything else re trimmed( steering wheel, headliner, parcel shelf, pillars etc)
- QMS custom oil sump guard
- All bushing upgraded to Powerflex
- Window tints
- Z3 short shifter
I probably missed a few other mods, but I reckon those are the main ones.
Everything else has been stripped and replaced/ refurbished. Obviously all new and original fuel lines, brakes disc, and a lot of other parts.
As with every restoration process, there are bits that i still want to do, and happy to go over them.
I am not interested in part exchanges (if you read through everything so far you understand why).
I have probably missed a a lot in the description, and the picture limit on this website does not do the car justice of everything that has been done to it. Private plate does not come with the car.
Happy to answer any questions.
