1956 Chevy Belair pillar less 2 door/ hotrod
Being sold on behalf of the long term owner. When asking for all the info on this show winning custom Belair . Reply was it reads like a book. So hear goes
Chapter1 . This rodded chevy started life in 1956 as a 283 ci manual with column change.
Chapter 2 . This car was built to be an ultimate show car back in the 1970s. It won many trophies and awards and the famous custom car shows of the day ie Belle Vue and Doncaster custom show. This is when it was a bare shell rebuild to customise and was all Black With Small block chevy and Auto box added and all the trim etc
Chapter3 ; Was completely striped and rebuilt once again to show standard approx 12 years ago. It was on this occasion it was painted in an original Belair colour scheme and the interior completely re trimmed to standard Belair colours to match.
Chapter 4 Upon completion the current owner bought the car as was the best 56 Belair he could find . The engine though looked show standard it didnt have the umps it should have had . So a fully recondition 350 short engine that had done 800 miles was bought . This was a 1st generation 350 Small block. This was transplanted into the Belair
Chapter5 , Again the current owner coming from an American racing and hotrod ding background he gave to experts in their field to install new everything from the block upwards. Cam , lifters, pushrods , roller tip rockers, brand new Edlebrock aluminium heads , billet water pump, billet polished Hunt magneto, polished aluminium r/ covers/ cobra style dual air cleaner, Enduranshine twin 4bbl inlet manifold. Twin chrome 500cfm Edlebrock carbs , the list goes on and on. A quick add up of parts alone at this stage was 10k. Its 1st outing was to Billing show and it was a co winner of best in show . Then driven back home.
Final chapter. The owner has won more trophies since , only been used to shows and local car tours where it never misses a beat. Not been used in the last Two years so a new battery and a new high torque starter motor has just been installed and now the car is up foe sale. Why I hear you ask . The owner doesn’t need to sell but his large collection is being sold to fund new ventures for his family.
The car is immaculate and engine bay and underneath is still show standard , as is the interior which is as new , . If you went over with a magnifying glass you will find an imperfection this isn’t brand new. But its still good enough to win at any show . It is arrow straight . Wheels are Boyd and are shod with quality radials that have hardly done anything. The heavy duty battery is brand new and is mounted in the boot , which again is immaculate. 98 percent of the chrome is as new , there is a very small amount of pitting around the front sidelight . These are easily bought if you want to get back to perfection. Car is very very well priced and as a company we have zero profit in this car , the price isn’t negotiable as its been priced to sell and im sure it wont last long. To be honest my knowledge of the market would put it 10k more . But the owner would love it to go to a good home , that means more to him.
Summary ; Once a well known show car that has been a Hotrod from the seventies. Now , it is well sorted and still good enough to win shows. Not only that mechanically it has had a fortune spent and done by people who know what they were doing. NICE !!! There is loads , loads more to tell about this car.
