Here we have a 1956 Wolseley 4/ 44, always a favourite 1950s saloon with so many classic car lovers. Her last owner of 26 years garaged her around six years ago and I am told that she has not been started since. I put a battery on her and she spins over willingly. I have not attempted to go any further as the further I go, the more the price begins to creep up. I didn't hear the fuel pump ticking for a start. Her underside is among the best and straightest I have seen on one of these monocoque Wolseleys and all original floor pressings are there to see so clearly. A very strong car indeed. Same goes for the boot floor and the engine bay. Nice interior and funnily enough, that glorious 4/ 44 steering wheel looks like brand new! Could be up and running very quickly, but she goes just as she came in. Her worst feature is a "garage ding" to the front corner of the offside front wing. But it's clean and not rot. Simple repair.
My classic cars are motoring antiques. Please do not confuse them with your one-year-old Range Rover. This car, for example, is 66-years-old and so will have quirks and faults in there somewhere. These are not always apparent when buying and selling classics which is what I do. I do not restore them, nor do I pretend that they are concours cars. The majority of them go out as they came in, and I continue to enjoy finding more - a skill which is becoming increasingly difficult as many of you will be aware. They deserve to be taken on as "family pets" and cared for through thick and then. They don't make them any more and demand now out-strips supply.
