A fantastic and ultra-original early G-Wagen with just 59k miles from new.
Finished in period-perfect Colorado Beige with black/ white cloth interior. Four-speed manual gearbox, power steering, factory towbar, front coupling and light guards. UK supplied in June of 1985.
It’s such a joy to see one of these W460s in standard form, unadulterated with retro-fit AMG trinkets and big alloy wheels, and all the more desirable for it. This example remains completely standard and unmodified.
We have carried out all the maintenance over the last two years with a view to making this G-Wagen a full sorted and reliable car, and it has been used regularly, including some European trips. Invoices approaching £20, 000 detail the work carried out, which include a cylinder head rebuild and new head gasket, a transmission rebuild and new clutch, new tyres, a suspension overhaul, new steering box and track rods.
The body and chassis are in excellent order and largely original. It benefitted from some minor restoration work to the body a few years ago, which is detailed with photographs in the history file.
The interior is very nice indeed and again very original besides some improvements in 2016.
Tremendous fun to drive with the torquey, fuel-injected 2. 3-litre petrol engine providing more than adequate performance, even cruising on a motorway. And obviously hugely capable should you decide to venture off road.
It is so hard to find these early Gs in such nice, preserved condition, with low mileage and without any silly modifications. With interest in these iconic 4x4s skyrocketing, this is surely a great addition to any collection.
