Beschreibung

This outstanding Rolls Royce Corniche is a car we know well having supplied it to the last two owners. We last saw the car back in 2019 and since then it has covered over 2000 miles and has been driven up to us faultlessly from Hertford. The most recent owner had a perfect final drive in the car, covering 200 miles in around four hours and then said an emotional goodbye.
Originally the Corniche was supplied new by Lex Mead (Manchester) Ltd, delivered on the 31st January 1974 with factory special features to include plain Sundym glass throughout, headrests to both front seats, Black lambswool rugs to front and rear compartment, front foglamps with fitted switchbox to suit and rear Red Fog-guard lamps. The original Rolls Royce paperwork also confirms the car was built to coachbuilder SVR. 2006 (Special Vehicle Requirements). The Rolls Royce is supplied with full factory specification sheets, original handbooks and manuals with a service history booklet beginning at 42, 680 in 1988, a bill of sale to a Bristol based Solicitor firm in 1985, MOT certificates dating back to 2003 and a staggering £67, 000 worth of receipts for work since the early 2000's. The car also featured on the front cover of the May/ June 2019 Rolls Royce & Bentley Driver magazine with an enclosed seven page feature - a copy is with the impressive history file.
This Rolls Royce has a recorded mileage of 85, 500, believed genuine from the extensive history we have and the fact that there are many original features still in place inside of the vehicle. In late 2015 a major programme of work costing in the region of £20, 000 was undertaken and just 3500 miles have been completed since. The Rolls Royce is presented in stunning condition having being subject of full windows out re-paint in 2016. Bodywork included new inner and outer wheel arches and new front and rear valances. Various re-chroming was also carried out and mechanical work included new front brake discs, new rocker cover gasket, rear low bush pins, new lower arm rear bushes , new steering shaft, and universal joint, new output shaft seals, rear handbrake cables, new gearbox tail shift oil seal and new diff nose seal. Other work included new coolant temperature gauge, oil pressure sender unit, oil pressure gauge, re-conditioned rev counter, replacement window motor, new courtesy light switches and the fitting of a new modern radio unit with Sat Nav and Bluetooth and more recently a new exhaust system has been fitted. A new radio surround panel was also fitted with the original walnut fascia with the car so it can be put back to original if desired. New service and ignition items include spark plugs, filters, HT lead distributor to coil, HT leads, distributor cap, contact set, condenser, ignition coil, ballest resistant coil and rotor arm. With its most recent owner, the Rolls Royce has also had a re-cored radiator, re-conditioned header tank, new drive belts and a service.

Further to this recent work, invoices detail an engine rebuild amongst around £45, 000 of receipts over several years since around 2002. Replacement parts include new accumulators, new hydraulic pumps, gearbox oil cooler pipes, new alternator, overhauled brake calipers, rear brake discs, many new flexi hoses and of course dismantling the engine, replacing liner seals, re-facing cylinder heads and re-fitting the engine, engine mountings and much more. Finding a Corniche with this level of expenditure could prove difficult and the result of the major mechanical expense is a car that is truly outstanding to drive with a wonderful, quiet engine, super smooth gearbox, beautiful suspension, light steering and efficient brakes.

We are pleased to report the car presents superbly with a first class paint finish, stunning straight panels, excellent windscreen seals and door rubbers, gleaming chrome and smart re-painted wheels and detailed engine bay several years on since its refurbishment program. The paintwork has held up beautifully seven years on and is testament to quality of the bodyshell. The interior is beautiful with excellent Black leather seats, lovely door cards, carpets, overrugs and stunning, clean headlining and excellent woodwork. All electrics work correctly and the car is ready to drive away and enjoy. In the time we have known it the car has proven incredibly reliable, its driven to us from London, Lincolnshire and Hertford on occasions over the past seven years, and has been thoroughly enjoyed by its recent owner. This Corniche is a wonderful, top class example and quite unique having had over £67, 000 spent on the car over the past twenty years or so.
