EXTERIOR
This stunning Escort RS Cosworth is finished in Auralis blue; one of the rarer colours with this car 1 of just over 100 produced. The squat and purposeful dimensions were made for the rally stages of the world and the “EsCos” has lost none of it’s homologated appeal over the years with deep air dam splitter, arch extensions and signature whale tail rear spoiler.
The paintwork is bright and consistent with excellent panel fit and finish – really a very straight survivor example that has been maintained beautifully. Thankfully lights, trims and rubbers also show very well throughout.
INTERIOR
Cabin condition is first class and can be truly considered ‘time warp’ without any discernible wear or blemishes to the leather Recaro seats, door cards, dash or leather wrapped wheel. Purists will be pleased to see the original radio / CD unit with only the gear knob a difference between this car and press shots in 1996! The original carpet also shows in fantastic order throughout.
Being a Lux specification this example is readily equipped with heated and electric door mirrors, an electric sunroof, electric windows, and a ‘Quickclear’ heated windscreen. AC is also a much welcome option.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Lifting the vented bonnet the engine bay appears in very good original condition with no visible modifications.
Being a second-generation RS Cosworth this 1995 example is fitted with the Garrett T25 turbocharger;a smaller unit that reduces lag and increases usability. The car performs very well on test – boosting as it should with a smooth, linear torque curve and allied with a fresh cambelt service this example is ready for it’s new owner to use and enjoy. Gearbox and clutch operate smoothly with no unnecessary drone or resistence,
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The dished original five-spoke 16 inch alloys are a perfect compliment to the aggressive bodywork – a timeless wheel design that present in perfect unmarked condition, including the centre caps. They are shod in matching Continental rubber all round with plenty of tread left at each corner.
Black brake calipers appear in excellent condition, with discs and pads showing plenty of life.
HISTORY FILE
First Registered in 31st January 1996, this example has been used sparingly with a mere 16k miles covered and presents in superb condition.
Cossetted by it’s former keepers over the years, there are a multitude of invoices on file including cambelt changes and a reconditioned Turbo to supplement diligent use despite the low mileage. After a period of storage our in-house team has carried out a full inspection and a light recommission inclusive of cambelt, alternator and AC belt change as well as driveshaft gaitor and both lower ball joint dust covers. Finally, both oil and brake fluid have been replaced with the car now turn-key and ready to enjoy.
The history file is complete with invoicing, MOT certificates and a complete owners pack including stamped service book along side immobiliser alarm fob and key.
