First owner was Lord Robert Walpole, Hereditary Peer in The House of Lords, 10th Baron Walpole who sadly passed away in 2021. Lord Walpole specified many expensive extras such as the lovely Panoramic Slatted Opening Electric Sunshine Roof which transforms the car close to a convertible due to its length and especially its width, it gives a unique open air experience. Automatic Self Parallel Parking has also been added including front and rear parking sensors, Speedtronic Cruise Control is a useful addition, this is one of the last 3 door A classes which look more sleek as well as having much longer front doors to aid entry and exit as well as longer door armrests. 10x Mercedes – Benz Main Agent service stamps including the transmission gearbox oil change twice, last done at 53, 918 miles, last serviced by a M-B Specialist on 26/ 05/ 2023 at 57, 199 miles. Full Book Pack and Folder, 2 Remote Keys. There are a few minor scratches, chips and marks on the paintwork but nothing major and a few marks on the interior including a minor tear to the drivers seat base bolster, no major scratches on the alloy wheels, a lovely well cared for Benz.
The 3 door versions were rare but offer the same impressive amount of interior space but give more sportier looks and longer front side armrests for taller drivers which also aid visibility with the B pillar being further back. This has more legroom for a tall driver than my CLK and C Estate and a much higher driving position. Remember these have chain cam engines so no need to worry about timing belt replacements.
Why pay thousands more for a CDI that averages late 40’s m. p. g. when this sporty and quiet petrol averages early 40’s m. p. g., especially when diesel is up to 30p more per litre? You will see from the photograph that it averaged 47 m. p. g. over 46 miles.
This 7 Speed Automatic A160 is very different to the 5 Speed Manual, it’ s only doing around 1, 500 R. P. M. at 50 m. p. h where the manual is doing much more which makes it a more relaxing drive as well as more economical at motorway speeds, it has the feel of a solid, substantial car to drive.
