Description
2001 Audi S3, Ming blue, replacement BAM engine, mechanically and cosmetically restored. NO offers.
Comprehensive service history with extensive major work-over £5K in the last 4 years, including new clutch, flywheel and cambelt/ water pump in 2019 (only 2K miles since). Runs well, starts first time, sounds great without being annoying or boomy. Just a very good example of a future classic. Just MOt’d with only one advisory for minor exhaust leak.
Internal restoration costs exceed £2500, includes new alcantara headlining (£600), new perforated leather gearknob and refurbished steering wheel (£150), restored wingback recaros in grey (£1600), replacement grey alcantara rear seats. New carpet mat set, replacement parcel shelf, integrated bluetooth to standard stereo. New cupholder and HVAC control panel. Aircon works well.
Massive list of mechanical overhaul in last 5 years, totalling £3650 in parts alone:
2023 New rear springs, new headlights (£850)
Massive file of receipts for work prior to this, all the way back to 2008 (bit of a gap from 2013 to 2018, where it covered less than 4K miles during this time) with stamped service book prior to this. Ming blue paintwork is in good overall condition, not perfect but looks more like a 67K miles car, not 167K!
Bad points are really very few. Uses a little oil, but less than most. Radio signal isn't great (probs due to stubby carbon aerial) and although Bose is fitted, some of the speakers are buzzy. The rear shocks work perfectly but the outer covers are corroded and were next on my list for replacement, but this is not essential (MOT advisory). Front fog switch is temperamental. Some of the interior window rubber is a bit faded. Am really struggling to think of negatives here!
I realise I'm not going to get my money back, redundancy leaves me no choice but to sell, hopefully to someone who will continue to keep it well preserved. Qualifies for classic car insurance. Fitted cover, number plate and Rays Volks Racing wheels by negotiation.
