First registered May 1983 this Gti in Mars red no2 is in excellent condition outside, inside and underneath. Original and honest 189000 miles, M. O. T’s dating back to the 80’s this car has been lovingly brought back to superb driving condition. Interior has been re trimmed, the engine has been professionally inspected and under instruction from two master VW mechanics NOT to rebuild the engine unless absolutely necessary as they are good for over half a million miles the following was done. Cylinder head removed to inspect the bores(all good), valves paraffin leak tested(all good), valve clearances checked(all good and tight), head refitted with new gasket and bolts. Cylinders then compression tested(all good). The only none standard items on this car are a perforated leather steering wheel with matching red and orange stitching , stainless braided brake hoses, also rear disc brake conversion which really does improve on drum brakes, red injection fuel lines and blue ignition cables. Engine running with Evans Classic Cool 180 waterless coolant and premium fuel only. Sitting on period correct Pirelli Cinturato P4’s she only comes out on a warm sunny day with the odd white fluffy cloud in the sky. Never driven during the winter months. Fully working period radio cassette with snatch plate. New clutch, M. O. T’d till May 2024 ( even though now classed as historic and is M. O. T and Road Tax exempt), huge history file. Drives like new. 3 owners from new.
There are not many of these left on the road especially in standard form in this condition. The engine and exhaust note really bring a smile to your face especially when hitting 3-4000 rpm. People constantly wave as you drive by with approval and other drivers suddenly become very courteous. A little gem of a car at not a ridiculous price.
