Here we have a great opportunity to purchase a very rare and unspoiled 1985 B reg Mk2 MG Metro Turbo.
Ordered in November 1984 by Mrs Smith in Yeovil from FWB Saunders Austin Rover and the MG was delivered and registered in February 1985.
Mrs Smith subsequently passed it on to her husband prior to the present owner purchasing the MG in 2013. Hence only 2 previous owners showing on the V5c.
Serviced by Mr Smith during his ownership including, I believe, some engine work, although there is no proof of this.
Mileage presently showing as just over 93k miles which is backed up by previous MOT certificates back to 1989. MOT through to April 2024 (no advisories).
There are other invoices in the file for parts purchased over the years plus the original purchase invoice from 1985.
In 2007, the Metro appeared in an edition of Practical Classics magazine (copy comes with paperwork for the car).
The present owner has undertaken regular servicing and has had the front wings replaced (using correct Turbo ones) and the bonnet was also resprayed because of stone chipping. Whilst the wings were removed, lots of waxoyl was applied to help future proof the panels. The remainder of the paintwork on the car is believed to be original.
All 4 wheels have also been refurbed. Matching Falcon tyres all round.
The Metro looks superb. The paintwork really shines and the interior is in great condition. There is a car park ding (see pics) on the passenger door but that doesn't detract from the overall condition of the car.
Also, if the battery has been disconnected, on re-connecting the clock sometimes (but not always) flashes on and off for about five minutes. The fuel warning light a bit intermittent, but the gauge is accurate.
The MG drives very well. The suspension is firm and the engine pulls well through the rev range. The gearbox is good and the car brakes as it should.
HPi clear. Spare keys. V5c. Matching numbers.
Overall this is a fine example of the marque in great condition overall.
