Description

For sale is my 1974 H1D Mach III. I bought this as a mostly complete basket case and it has been fully restored. I?d guess that, excluding service parts, it?s about 90% original. The only non original parts are the airbox (that had rotted to nothing), airbox to carb rubbers, bar grips, front brake master cylinder and right hand side switchgear (that were too corroded to repair safely), new throttle and choke cables, seat cover and foam, tyres and rear shock absorbers and springs.
The bike has been completely stripped and the frame has been powder coated. All the chrome work has been replated by Sean at Agbrigg plating in Leeds, original Takasago rimmed wheels have been stripped, hubs polished, rims replated by Sean and rebuilt with stainless spokes, new bearings, seals and shoes/ pads. Brakes have been rebuilt with new seals, pads/ shoes and hoses/ pipes. Head bearings have been replaced with taper rollers.
The paintwork has been beautifully redone in the original Kawasaki Candy Green by Alan at Spraybay in Immingham with hand painted (not vinyl) decals that looks stunning.
The engine has been fully rebuilt (crank stripped and rebuilt with new seals, bearings and rods by SEP), the right hand barrel was cracked so I took the decision to get another barrel then rebore all three barrels to +0. 5 and use new IMD pistons and rings. The cases were soda blasted, covers were polished and a new set of JIS screws were used for reassembly.
The engine starts first kick after two priming kicks, warms up on the choke in one minute then settles down to a nice steady tick over. I?ve done about 50 miles on it (in fits and starts as health permits) and it rides really well but it?ll still need a couple of hundred miles more running in to be on the safe side.
V5 is present and with my name/ address.
I?ll be sorry to sell this bike but I can't ride any more and I don't want to leave it sitting in the garage.
I?ll be happy to let anybody have a test ride as long as the cash is in my bank and you have insurance. I?ll consider offers but they?ll need to be close to my asking price because I?ve put so much time, effort and money into this restoration. I?m sure this will be a show winner in the future.
I can arrange transport for a buyer with a courier firm I?ve used before (or just ride it home).
Asking £9250 with payment ideally by bank transfer
